Swimsuit Fabric FAQs
The most common fabrics are nylon/spandex blends and polyester/spandex blends. Nylon offers a smooth, soft hand feel, while polyester is more resistant to chlorine and fading. Both are blended with spandex (Lycra/Elastane) for stretch and comfort.
Polyester-spandex fabrics are recommended for high chlorine environments (like pools). They last longer, resist fading, and maintain elasticity compared to nylon blends. For professional swim teams or resorts, polyester blends are the preferred choice.
Yes, we provide recycled nylon and polyester fabrics such as REPREVE® or Carvico Vita®, made from post-consumer plastic bottles or ocean waste. These fabrics are eco-friendly while maintaining the same stretch, durability, and comfort as traditional fabrics.
Standard swimsuit fabrics are 180–250 GSM (grams per square meter). Lighter fabrics (around 180 GSM) are ideal for fashion swimwear, while heavier fabrics (200–250 GSM) provide more coverage, support, and durability for sports or plus-size swimwear.
Rinse swimsuits with fresh water immediately after use, avoid wringing, and lay flat to dry in shade. Do not machine wash or tumble dry. This helps preserve the elasticity and color of nylon and polyester fabrics, especially for chlorine-resistant and eco-friendly options.
